Carnival Gaian reflections

The Carnival is one of the most Gaian festivities. I mean in its original, pre-Christian, meaning, which is quite well preserved in many places, like Galicia and the Basque Country, where some Carnival characters literally dance with a big noise to wake up Gaia / The Earth / Nature, from her winter sleep.

Very similar characters are still alive in other parts of Northern Spain and also in Sardinia, Eslovenia, Bulgaria, etc.

But my reflection goes further in these times of the Gaiacide. Maybe it’s time to reverse Carnival’s wake-up call, maybe it’s time to listen to Gaia’s screaming call and wake up Humanity.
